Three Weeks Continued: One More Question

It appears there were some more questions/situations that I was reminded of after talking to some people about my most recent blog post. It never fails you can write about some things and then completely forget about something until after. It always happens to me and in all honesty, I completely forgot about what Bobby brought up in the comments: where are you registered?

I know, I know. You were thinking I was talking about me changing my last name to Han and I can thank Stephanie for that wonderful little joke. She started it a couple weeks back and before I knew it, my mom chimed in on it, as I would fully expect, then some other friends outside of Bobby chimed in … so yeah it’s been fun.

Funny, ha ha, funny.

Oh Steph, funny gal, isn’t she? Now she has my friends making up fake names for the both of us, ha!

(No, I am not changing my name, just in case you were going to ask.)

In any case, when we first made the announcement that we were engaged and we wrote the “how we met” story on the site, we contemplate how we would tell everyone we registered for gifts at Crate and Barrel. We both knew we wanted to renovate our kitchen (me more so than Steph because we ALL know I’m the one who cooks) and asking for things at that store was better than just being rude and saying “give me money” in my best toll voice. We signed up for a registration event at the store and had a great time walking around the store finding things we liked and things we knew we were going to need.

It was a lot of fun and we made a date out of the whole thing. Fast forward to a conversation a couple weeks later.

“So, are the two of you going to register anywhere for wedding gifts?”

“Yeah, we did already.”

“That’s cool! Where did you register? I think we’d like to get you something since we can’t go to the wedding.”

“That’s cool man! You don’t have to do that though. We are registered at Crate and Barrel.”

“Where?”

“Crate and Barrel. You know, the place that has a bunch of housewares and furniture?”

“Oh, I think I know. It’s super fancy.”

“I don’t know if I would say that but it’s definitely not Wal-Mart.”

“Yeah it is. It’s super fancy. They sell egg beaters for like $50. Who want’s to spend that much on an egg beater?”

“I don’t know man, I’m not getting an egg beater. We registered for dishes, pots and pans, knives … stuff I’ll use in the kitchen to make food.”

“Yeah, super expensive pots and pans.”

“You’re just being ridiculous now.”

“I’m not the one who left El Paso and all of the sudden is “Mr. Chingon” with money to buy expensive fancy California stuff. Are you too good for Target now?”

“What? I shop at Target all the time! You know I loved the Super Target by my old house!”

“Apparently too good enough to register there.”

Moth-er-fuck-er.

What the hell man! Since when did it matter where Stephanie and I registered? We both happen to like the store because, yes, they have nice things and I like good cooking stuff! They have some nice furniture!

GOD DAMNIT, I LIKE THAT STORE. STEPH LIKES THAT STORE!

Good grief man!

Two weeks and counting. I’m actually very very excited.

Why are you telling people you are not changing your name! Silly! My aunt thought crate and barrel was a wedding store she didn’t know about and she lives in California.

LOL! I like that store too! I love Target and Macy’s are great too, but there’s something about C&B. Maybe I think it’s fancy too and that’s why I like it.
They have great stuff, at different price ranges, and a wedding calls for nice gifts that will be a part of your home for a long time.
Hang in there and enjoy the last few weeks and the oddball questions/comments are sure to continue coming your way.
