Love, marriage…

To say coming back to work after having a wonderful wedding and vacation in Hawaii is difficult is an understatement to say the least. Getting the day started was, um, challenging.

My eyes squinted at the ray of light coming through the window.

My ears were ringing with the sound of the buzzer.

My arms instinctively pulled the covers above my head and I groaned to Stephanie, “Turn the alarm off! It can’t be Monday already!”

It was like when the house lights coming up after a night of dancing and drinking at the club. It’s way too bright, everyone is disheveled, sloppily walking to the door twisting and longing for just one more song. I was longing for Hawaii and at least a couple more hours of sleep.

I was suggish Monday morning and the feeling lingered into my lunchtime. I had to fight off falling asleep at my desk by about 9:30 and went for a quick walk it was so bad. What I wouldn’t have done to be able to be back on the beach with sitting in a lounge chair doing nothing. Oh man, how that would have been wonderful!

The funny thing is, as much as I would love to go back, I wouldn’t want to either. It was a wonderful week and I think it’s safe to say everyone had a great time. Everyone did what they wanted while they were there; some we on the beach every day, others were sight seeing on the island, some did a little of both. Most importantly, everyone had a great time the day of the wedding.

Seeing Stephanie walk towards me in her pink dress with the beading sparkling in the sun nearly put me on my ass. She looked stunning and beautiful.

Everyone was smiling and my mom and grandmother were crying a bit.

The reception was amazing. The food was fantastic and I couldn’t believe how well things turned out.

Probably the highlight of the night was our big announcement. For everyone who may not have found out yet, we are pregnant and are expecting a baby boy in April.

I’ll let that sink in a bit. ☺

We are very excited about Baby Avila and trying to keep it a secret has been excruciating to say the least. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if we were trying to have kids and “why have you been waiting so long” (you can add this to the list of questions we both got before we were married.) I wanted to yell out, “DAMNIT, WE ARE PREGNANT SO STOP FUCKING ASKING ME ABOUT IT!”

Yeah, I could only say that in my head.

At the wedding, after our first dance, we worked it out with the DJ there would be a mix of songs that used the word baby added to the end of our dance. We danced to “All You Need Is Love” and then went into the baby mix. It was hilarious watching the reactions as half of the room had their faces scrunched as they were confused and didn’t know what was going on while the other half was in total shock with their hands on their face when they realized what was going on. I should have had a GoPro camera on me so I could have documented the reactions. It was classic.

So that’s the big news. We had a great time at the wedding. Hawaii was amazing. April will be even better.
